ReplyDeleteBefore GCC, there was the so called original 5 composed of Setnecer Ram , Emil Canda , Tatz Borja Molina , Rey Tupal and Steven Egay .
Sometime in late 2005 or early 2006, had a meeting with Igso Yoyo (then Captain Mar Recentes) at Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City. He presented to me the idea of creating an internet forum of Gigaquitnons. At that time there was no facebook yet and internet forums were quite in vogue. I liked this suggestion as it has a lot of merit.
Am not sure who was the first one I asked to join in this project but maybe it was Emil Canda as i saw him in Gigaquit during 2006 Holy Week. I had some contact with Tatz Molina and Rey Tupal so it was not difficult to reach them.
All of them liked the idea also and we began our initial meetings around June and July 2006. Igso Yoyo was already assigned in Africa around that time under a United Nations mission but we kept him in the loop via emails.
Around August 2006, we finally came out with the forum site made by Tatz Molina. It is still existing now. To see it, please click this >>

ReplyDeleteAround August 2006, somebody was inviting me to join the Rotary Club. When i was deliberating if i should join or not, i thought why should i spend time for some communities in Manila instead of doing it for Gigaquit which needs more help? That was then that i thought of creating the "Gigaquit Civic Club".
Actually, the name that i wished to propose was Gigaquit Development Forum, but when I called for a meeting with the original 5 and some other Gigaquitnons like Mr. Samuel Senoren, I had to tell them that what we are going to do is to form a sort of a Gigaquit Civic Club. I used this description because the idea is to pattern it after the Rotary Club. There were several names proposed . . . but the name Gigaquit Civic Club sticked on . . . and the rest is history.
