37th Commencement Exercises

On March 29, 2010 at 1:00 pm will be the 37th Commencement Exercises of Gigaquit National School of Home Industries. Henceforth, I congratulate to the members of the 2010 graduating class for finally reaching and attaining another significant step in the educational ladder. This felicitation will not only be to the graduating students but likewise to the parents who deserve the honor for their great efforts, undying support, and to the teachers for encouragement in imparting to the students quality basic education.

GiNSHIan 2010 Outstanding Student

Last March 5, 2010 another GiNSHIan student receives the 2010 TOSS award held at Surigao City Cultural Center, Surigao City.
Frances Nicolle B. Dumas, a fourth year student and the daughter of Mr. Nicomedes E. Dumas, Jr. and Mrs. Emily Babia-Dumas received the award as The Outstanding Students of Surigao (TOSS) 2010. This search for TOSS 2010 is the project of Junior Chamber International (JCI) – Surigao Nickel Chapter (The leading Network of Young Active Citizens) and in cooperation of the City Government of Surigao, Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, and the Department of Education (DepED).

The other TOSS awardees are the following:

Borja, Gerald T. - Surigao del Norte National High School

Cruzado, Rhea Mii A. - Caraga Regional Science High School

Jaafar, Norhaida A. - Amado A. Fabio Sr. Memorial Natl High School

Mosquito, Kimberley Claire V. - Alegria National High School

Ortega, Eloisa Clarizze July V. - St. Jude Thaddeus Institute of Technology

Platil, Longrio C.- Surigao del Norte National High School

Reganon, Meg L. - St. Paul University Surigao

Rule, Donna Jeanne Q. - Claver National High School

Sardovia, Jonally B. - Placer National High School

Tado, Neda F. - Tubod National High School

Tan, Ariane Louise A. - Saint Paul University Surigao

Nicolle also passed the 2010 DOST Scholarship examination given last November 15, 2009 by the Department of Science and Technology at Surigao del Norte National High School (SNNHS), Surigao City. She was informed by Dr. Nancy L. Charcos, the Provincial Director of DOST that as a full scholar, she is entitled to choose any priority college degree come this June 2010 at any DOST accredited Universities and Colleges. And as a token, a medal will be given to her on graduation day come March 29, 2010.

2 GiNSHIans received STEP National Awards. . .

Again the Gigaquit National School of Home Industries (GNSHI) got the pie of national awards in the 8th STEP –National Skills Development and Competitions (STEP-NSDC) held last February 5-10, 2010 at Camarines Sur National High School, Naga City, namely:

Rosemariegen S. Dumo – 3rd Placer in Dressing and Drawing Chicken with her Coach Mrs. Maria Linda D. Enario, and Kenneth John B. Cape – 4th Placer in Auto Electrical Wiring Installation (Lighting and Horn System) with his Coach Engr. Leopoldo P. Naraja.

The other 3 GiNSHIan national finalists are the following:
• Jestony H. Escabal – in Mutiple Rootstock Propagation with his Coach, Mr. Martiniano B. Enario
• Junric D. Pelaez – in Center Table Construction with his Coach, Mr. Jonathan L. Telen
• John Philip C. Ellorico – in Regulated Power Supply Assembly with her Coach, Mrs. Jasmin L. Yujoco.

To GiNSHIan students who gave fame and honor to our Alma Mater, Congratulations ! We are so proud of you. . .

GNSHI tops in 2008 Regional Pop Quiz

Last September 24, 2008, Ruth Galos Asumen, a IV-Einstein student of Gigaquit National School of Home Industries (GNSHI) garners 4th Place during the 2008 Regional Pop Quiz Contest held at Bayugan Comprehensive National High School, at Bayugan, Agusan del Sur with the theme "Population and Development for the Youth". She is the daughter of Mr. Agustin Asumen and Mrs. Betty Galos Asumen.

The contest were represented by ten (10) representatives from different Divisions in the Region, namely Surigao del Norte, Surigao City, Surigao del Sur, Tandag City, Dinagat, Butuan City, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte and Bislig City.

Ruth G. Asumen is the representative of our division in Surigao del Norte after winning the Division Pop Quiz level last September 2, 2008 at the Provincial Convention Center at Surigao City.

To Miss Ruth Galos Asumen, keep up the good mark ! We are proud of you.

“STEP: Upgrading Skills, Improving Lives” was the year’s theme during the 6th Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines-National Skills and Development Competition (STEP-NSDC) held at Davao City last November 19-24, 2007.
The competition was joined by estimated 2,400 delegates with their coaches representing the 16 Regions namely: Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, NCR, CAR and CARAGA. The Gigaquit National School of Home Industries representatives were luckily one of the national contestants.

But before concurring the nationals, they have represented our school to the different levels. After winning to the Division level, they again represent the Division of Surigao del Norte to the Regional STEP-SDC held at San Francisco, Agusan del Sur last October 21-24.And fortunately, got the first places and gone to Davao City to represent the CARAGA Region.

This was the third time for the Wedding Cake Decorating and AM Radio Assembly to defend its place and the second time for the Construction and Upholstering a Stool. It was also the first time for the Photographic Printing and Pumpkin Pie Making to join the Nationals.

And with God’s grace, GNSHIans made it again. Here are the winning skills, the student entrepreneurs, their coaches and their places:
