GCC Sponsors First Prize of the Jinawa Festival 2008
Posted by Steven Egay
The Gigaquit Civic Club (GCC) was organized sometime in October 2006. The first meeting was held in Makati City attended only by 4 persons. But it was a great start as now GCC has made great strides . . . taking pride in Gigaquit Online the website it created for beloved Gigaquit and all Gigaquitnons around the world.
Now it has made another major contribution to Gigaquit as GCC has been instrumental in the formation of the Jinawa Festival Council and the holding of the 1st Jinawa Festival on Nov 1, 2008. Time will tell if Jinawa Festival could survive in the coming years, and also how much it can contribute not only to the honor and pride of Gigaquit but also to the pockets of the Gigaquitnons like the habal-habal drivers, food vendors, hostel operators, etc.
The GCC members are very busy especially with the coming Halloween and Christmas preparations. Though unable to hold a formation anniversary party this October 2008, several members particularly Mr. Samuel Senoren, Capt. Mario Recentes, Mr. Rey Tupal, Ms. Elvie Paray and Mr. Steven Egay contributed the funds in sponsoring the first prize for the Jinawa Festival. GCC is now part of the history of the Jinawa Festival and hopefully a big part also in its future.
