About us

Realizing Our Visions . . .

The Gigaquit Civic Club (GCC) was conceptualized by young Gigaquitnons and supported by successful senior kababayans. The objectives include but are not limited to the following:

1. To provide scholarship for poor but deserving Gigaquitnons. It is our belief that certain unfortunate families in our town can be uplifted if some relatives can finish school & get decent jobs. We hope that later they can support their family members by themselves.

2. To preserve the natural environment and beauty of the municipality. Gigaquit is not spared from global warming and other changes in climate and weather patterns. We suffer from soil erosion as seen by Doot beach being battered by strong waves every year causing its beautiful shorelines to be damaged and many of its coconut trees uprooted. Flooding is also a recent problem that is brought about by modern infrastructures. A common problem among developing communities. GCC will serve as conduit to bring these matters to the right government agencies, as well as with local and foreign civic institutions with capabilities to assist.

3. To help promote local tourism, industry and culture for the socio-economic development of Gigaquit. In the area of tourism GCC will help in enticing people to visit and explore beautiful Doot and Anibongan beach. Other potential spots are the Cuyapnit cave, Baoy river, Pili mountain view, etc. We can also sponsor periodical events in entertainment and sports which we hope will make Gigaquit a popular venue for such. We also hope this will result to some business opportunities for the locals thereby contributing to economic progress. In industry, GCC can also coordinate to bring modern expertise and technology to improve agriculture and other local production. The network of GCC can help market Gigaquit products including our famed wine. The website which GCC sponsors can also serve as an important tool in promoting tourism, commerce and local culture.
